Tupaia, a Tahitian navigator priest or ta‘unga, travelled with James Cook on the Endeavour in search of the great southern continent.

Discover this amazing story of encounter not just between two master navigators but also between worlds.

What role did Tupaia play in getting the Endeavour to Aotearoa and how did he broker connections and exchanges between the crew and tangata whenua? What successes and failures from this journey are meaningful for us today?
