Favourite object or taonga
The type specimens of New Zealand’s native plants that were collected by Banks and Solander, who were botanists on Cook’s first voyage to Aotearoa in 1769. These dried plant specimens are part of the Auckland Museum’s herbarium collection and are more than 250 years old!
Favourite part or exhibit of the museum
My favourite part of the museum changes all the time! At the moment, my favourite part is the volcanoes exhibit. I studied geography at university so am a great lover of earth’s natural processes and rocks! I also have a rather nostalgic love for the volcano house as I remember visiting it the first time I came to the museum when I was about 6 years old.
Fun fact
I can walk on stilts, and I have performed with a company of stilt walkers at festivals and events.
