This programme explores Māori contributions to the World Wars and the emergence of social and political movements that followed. Students will learn about the Māori Pioneer Battalion, the 28th Māori Battalion, and how wartime service shaped leadership and unity. Through taonga and oral histories, learners trace the shift from sacrifice abroad to activism at home — including movements for land, language, and recognition. Senior students explore how global and local experiences inspired enduring change.
