This programme explores the causes, battles, and consequences of the New Zealand Wars. Students examine taonga, artefacts, and historical narratives to understand the Māori struggle for land, sovereignty, and survival. Through storytelling moments such as Ruapekapeka and Ōrākau, learners connect with the personal and collective experiences of conflict. Younger students explore courage and leadership, while older students critically assess the impacts of war on identity, power, and national memory.
