Maraea holds a Bachelor of Education (Specialising in Teaching) and a Diploma in Te Pīnakitanga ki te Reo Kairangi (Level 7). She is the Mātauranga Māori Learning Specialist at Tāmaki Paenga Hira.

Maraea has worked across Early Learning, Primary, and Secondary education, and is passionate about te ao Māori, exploring and sharing Māori culture, stories, and traditions. She creates engaging learning experiences that connect ākonga with taonga and the living heritage of Aotearoa.
